About Us

The Image of God Church in Christ was founded 38 years ago by the late Ruling Elder, Founder Pastor Robert Williams and his wife the late Evangelist (Minister) Virgie Williams.

Together they started a small ministry (1987) out of their home in Nanjemoy Maryland and eventually moved the ministry to the lower level (not a basement) of Ministers (Deacon) James Sr. and Minister (Deaconess) Virginia Newton's home Palmer Park Maryland.

Through the love and commitment, they have to God and the unconditional love for people many accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. The congregation grew to a level that community parking for church members was no longer viable, so the church and members moved to 3102 Branch Ave. Marlow Heights (1992), Maryland.

Ruling Elder Pastor Robert L. Williams went to be with the Lord in February of 2009 and his wife Overseer Evangelist Minister Virgie Williams went to be with the Lord in May of 2015. Sr. Pastor Gregory S. Williams currently provides the oversight of the church (2009).

Sr. Pastor Gregory Williams has served as Trustee, Deacon, Minister, Head of Security, Transportation team and Sunday school Minister for the Image of God Church in Christ family since his acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Savior back in 1989.

During the period his father and Pastor Robert Williams Sr. was sick he provided leadership for the church including ministering Gods Word in doctrine to the congregation. After Pastor Robert Williams demise Minister Gregory Williams was accepted by the congregation in the role of Pastor and charged to continue leading this ministry and feeding the flock of God.

Minister Gregory Scott Williams being Ordain & installed May 17, 2009, the Image of God Church in Christ, Inc. Pastor Elect (2009) & Successor President (2015) is still on task seeking God word to help heal, deliver, and educate God's people.

March 2017 Pastor Minister Gregory Scott Williams, Successor President married First Lady Alesia Williams (Millner). 2024 will be his sixteenth Pastor-elect and tenth year as successor President; with four (4) board member and eight (8) leadership members, a growing congregation; as a church we are looking forward to continuing this journey with God.

March 2019 the world came to a physical stop because of Covid 19. January 2020 the church transition from physical services together at 3102 Branch Avenue Temple hills MD to an all-virtual service only on digitals platforms. We as a church are looking forward to returning to the physical church building together again. Covid 19 is still around but with much prayer, God and mankind the world is returning but not the same.

Like all that have departed from worship and fellowship with us we are greatly sadden, hurt, and wish them the best moving forward in their new direction in Christ. (One of our key Elder, Minister Virginia Newton resigned from the elder board and Church membership with the Image of God Church in Christ December 2022 to continue her journey with Christ under a new ministry) we love and wish all of you the best in your journeys.

According to God's Word man is a spirit, has a soul and they live in a body.

The spirit is the knowledge of self, The soul is the seat of desires and the body is the house for the spirit and soul.

Our mission is to bring all of these into balance through the knowledge of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost.
